Financial engineering (stochastic calculus) is an outdated skillset. At best, you can land a role as a pricing quant at a bank like Goldman, Citi, etc. Their max TC after 5 YOE is around 300K. Maybe 400K as a "VP".
If your goal is a top quant firm (Jane Street, Citadel, HRT, etc; TC 300K-400K with 0-1 YOE) you need 90% PhD level statistics/optimization courses and 10% CS systems courses.
Specific finance knowledge (such as futures, bonds, options, etc) can be learned in 3-6 months on the job.
